CURRICULUM AT A GLANCE Primarily using ABeka
READING
3 year olds: Our reading program is phonics-based. The students are taught all of the letters of the alphabet and the phonetic sounds that those letters represent. 4&5 year olds: Besides learning the letters and phonetic sounds, we also teach the students how to read short words and sentences. We begin reading groups in the spring.
WRITING
Each week a different letter will be featured. Writing is structured for students to learn how to write their name, hold pencil properly, recognize lower case and capital letters, and focus on basic penmenship. 3 year olds: Concentrate in simple letter recognition and tracing. 4 & 5 year olds: Further concentration in tracing and writing independently with proper formation.
